Church Family-

This has been a tough couple weeks for everyone in multiple ways! We are learning how to be the local body of Christ when it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet together face to face. During times like this communication is essential. It is an opportunity to allow the Lord to further knit our hearts together by the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells in our hearts. It is exciting to see how the Lord grows our desire to be with one another to worship Him when there is possibility that we will not be able to.

We are confident that the Lord is going to strengthen His church through means of this current trial. We know that we are to “count it all joy when we experience trials of various kinds, for (because) you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:2-4).” We know and are trusting in the sovereignty and providence of God that this trial is bringing greater spiritual maturity to His children. We are being made complete and He is faithful to bring to completion the good work He began in us (Philippians 1:6).

A few things for us to note as a church family:

  • 1.    Family Worship. This is an opportunity for the family to really seek the Lord to together in your homes. We will be sending home the current lesson for Children’s Church each week so that families can take the lesson and utilize it throughout the week with their children. It is such a great chance for our kids to see the confidence and peace we have in the Lord even when the world is in great distress. We are reminded that the home is our first mission field!
  • 2.    Practical Help Team.We had a chance to talk to most of our church family over the last couple days. There are obviously many needs our church family may have in the next weeks and possibly months. We have a team of people in the church who are ready to help with things like grocery shopping and whatever practical needs you may have. If you are in need of help with things like this, please send an email to: davepennington.fbc@gmail.com. Dave will get your request to our team who will work on these needs.
  • 3.    Weekday Ministries. Weekday ministries are evaluated on a day by day basis by the point person of that ministry. That ministry leader will continue to communicate with everyone involved so that we all can stay informed.
  • 4.    Receiving Information Updates. The church will be communicating through telephone, through social media (Facebook and Instagram), through website, and this week we will be generating an “All church” mailchimp so that our lines of communication are constantly open. To be added to this list, please email davepennington.fbc@gmail.comand we will add you to our church family update list.
  • 5..    Prayer Requests. Please continue to send us prayer requests so we can know how to pray for our church family during this time. We personally are praying that the Lord will use this to invigorate our desire and efforts to reach our neighbors and loved ones with the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. Our world needs hope, peace, and confidence that can be found in Christ and in Christ alone. What a great privilege to be used by our God for His eternal and saving purposes. If you have a prayer request, you can always submit it on our website by clicking on “ministries” and then on “prayer ministry”.
  • 6.    Giving.Giving is part of worship to the Lord and is a regular part of our Sunday morning services. As we are entering into a season where we there is possibility for us not to meet during Sunday morning services, we still want to stress the importance of our giving to support the ongoing ministries of Family Baptist Church. Therefore, we want to remind everyone ways in which you can give:
  •    a.    Through our website (www.fbccarpinteria.org) you can click on the “give” tab to set up one-time or recurring offerings.
  •    b.    Through the mail: 5026 Foothill Road, Carpinteria, CA 93013
  •    c.    Stop by the church sanctuary throughout the week which is still open during the week (8:00am-12:00am).

We continue to look for ways to serve and love our community during this time and are truly excited to see how God is going to use this for His glory. This was part of His eternal plan and purposes and we have the sure confidence that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).

In Christ alone,

Family Baptist Church

March 13th, 2020 Update (Click Here)

Dear Church Family-

As we have been closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19, the elders and pastors have been discussing and praying for God’s wisdom about the best way to love Him and love our neighbors during this time. We understand that a national crisis like this can bring much anxiety and worry into the hearts of many people. We are trusting in the Sovereignty of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is upholding the universe by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3).

We are continuing to monitor the situation daily and even hourly to make a wise decision that would be both honoring to God and good for His people. That being said, we have decided to continue with our Sunday morning service this weekend. We understand that some of our church family may choose to refrain from attending the Sunday morning service and we want to make clear that we are encouraging you only to do what you believe is best for you, your family, and those around you. If you believe you are particularly at risk or are carrying some sickness that could be of concern we would ask that you would remain home during this time.

The church elders and pastors will be in frequent communication with our church family through email, through social media, and we will be calling our church family to check in regularly to see if there is any way we can love, support, serve, and pray for you during this time.

Again, we know that many of our church family will opt to stay home due to the situation and we recommend only that you make the decision best for you and your family. However, we also know that there will be many who need love, prayer, and support during this time. Therefore, we want to be able to serve anyone who desires to be there Sunday morning.

The service will be shortened. And for those who choose not to come, the sermon will be posted online either in audio or video format. We are also working on some form of live streaming so that our church family will be able to “virtually” be together whether in person or via live stream.

We will not have hospitality after service. Regarding mid-week ministries, the pastors who oversee the ministries will be in contact with you about cancellations or alterations to our weekly schedule.

Trusting in Him and Him alone,

Family Baptist Church Elders and Pastors
